A single cryolipolysis cycle applied to a localized fat bulge reduces subcutaneous fat thickness by roughly 3.5 to 5 mm and abdominal circumference by roughly 3.5 cm at 12 weeks, pooled across two 2025 meta-analyses covering 3,158 and 285 participants respectively.
How strong the finding is
Two independent 2025 meta-analyses agree on direction and rough magnitude for local measures, which is why this is graded moderate rather than limited.
What complicates this
Heterogeneity was very high (I-squared 81 to 95 percent), most included studies were single-arm or nonrandomized without controls, circumference reduction reached significance for the abdomen but not arms or thighs, and BMI reduction was significant only within 3 months. Effect sizes should be read as indicative rather than precise.
