Red light therapy
Limited evidenceWhy it might help
Photobiomodulation may alter local inflammatory signaling and cellular energy processes, but whether those effects translate into reliable human bone healing is uncertain.
What the research shows
A prospective randomized trial enrolled 68 people with tibial stress fractures, assigning 34 to low-level laser and 34 to placebo; the laser group had earlier resolution of pain and tenderness and earlier painless walking, with fewer recurrences reported. The authors called the study preliminary and requested a larger multicenter trial, so it does not establish faster bone union or a safe earlier return to sport.
